‘Blind Dave’ an inspiration for all

Discovering Our Oceans

Exciting research shows that almost a quarter of the world's seabed has now been mapped out thanks to immense efforts. Scientists believe that collecting this data will help with our understanding of climate change and will aid with ocean preservation and conservation efforts. PRACTICE

Upcycling is when you take an existing item and turn it into something else, giving it a new life. By repurposing items you already have at home, you are living a more sustainable lifestyle and reducing unnecessary waste.

It’s estimated that around 300,000 tonnes of clothing goes into landfill in the UK every year.

So for our fourth and final upcycle project we are going to create fabric gift wrap from old clothing and fabrics.

Start by laying out your fabrics and clothes onto a flat surface. Then with a pen or pencil, mark out large squares avoiding any seams or faults within the fabrics. Simply cut along the outline and iron out any folds and creases. You now have the perfect fabric squares for your upcyled gift wrap.

Follow the link attached for some ways you can wrap up gifts using your new fabric wrap.
