Bamboo: Bamboo is really easy to care for in the washing machine and the fabric stays fresher longer so you’ll notice you don’t need to wash it so often. Bamboo items do not require any special treatment, but if you would like to minimise your impact these are a few standard guidelines to follow:
- Wash Less – Bamboo helps keep clothes fresh for longer
- Wash at lower temperatures – Unless it’s dirty, wash at 30 degrees
- Iron your garment at a medium heat, only when necessary - Bamboo is an antistatic fabric so should not crease as much as your conventional garments.
- Line dry your clothing rather than tumble dry or dry clean.
- Do not bleach.
Organic Cotton: This fabric may shrink with washing since it is not treated with any chemicals. Because of this, we provide you with the following washing instructions/recommendations:
- Wash at a maximum of 30 degrees (even better option is to use cold water)
- Wash it by hand two or three times before using a washing machine.
- Use a normal or mild detergent. Be careful not to use an excess amount of detergent.
- Wash clothes inside out.
- Wash with similar colours only.
- Preferable air dry. If done by tumble dry, be sure to do so with low heat.
- Recommendable to dry the garments laid down flat as opposed to hanging from the line.
- Can be ironed, but be sure to do it at a medium temperature.
- Do not bleach.
TENCEL™: Be aware that this fabric may shrink up to 3% after the first wash. To minimize this from happening, follow the instructions below:
- Wash items using cold water.
- If the garment is 100% TENCEL™ hand wash only.
- Put clothes in a bucket with water and soap (max. 5 minutes). Then rinse it with water. Press it against the sink to reduce any excess water.
- If you do use a washing machine, make sure to use only cold water and a slow wash option for delicate clothes.
- Machine dry at a medium temperature or hang dry it.
- TENCEL™ is considered a creaseless fabric. But if they do appear, we recommend steaming for the safest finish.
- If you decide to iron the garment, hover over the item using the steam setting or press using a warm setting only.
We use quality botanical fabrics that need to be maintained with care in order to preserve them at their best. You can find the appropriate washing instructions and recommendations in response to the question above. If followed, any shrinking should be none to minimal. However, it is normal for some garments to shrink a little, especially during their first wash.
Some fabrics (incl. Organic Cotton/Tencel) are more prone to shrinking than others, so we would recommend paying close attention to the recommendations above to prevent this.

The term ‘botanical’ means pertaining to, made from or containing plants. At Positive Outlook Clothing, all of our fabrics originate from nature; sourced sustainably, processed safely and crafted with the respect they deserve.
